Independent Study, Week One

Understand- The objective of this assessment is to create and visually communicate quantitative and qualitative information about my activity and sites. I need to deliver a successful brochure and follow the mandatories of primary research (going to my site to experience it myself) and secondary research (looking at other forms e.g. internet, magazines, other brochures, etc.

I really wanted to have my theme for the project as Cafes in Wellington but i felt like i couldn't gather enough information and difference between the sites i had first looked at. I have decided to go with the theme of Scenic Walkways of Wellington. I think that this idea will give me more to work with and i will be able to create a better design concept.

The three places that i have chosen to look at are the Botanical Gardens, Mt Vic and Days Bay. I think that having a coastal walk, a nature walk and a hill line site will give my project enough difference and it also speeds across the greater Wellington Region.

The Botanical Gardens
I have chosen to do the Botanical Gardens as one of my sites because it is a lovely walk with plenty of walk ways with different difficulties suitable for for different fitness levels. It also has a great variety of garden displays and scenic views to please the explorers eye.

Mt Vic
I have chosen to do Mt Vic as my more challenging walkway because not everyone wants to walk slowly, enjoying the view. This walk way is for the fitness junkies and the ones who want to challenge their fitness levels. even though this walk way may be hard, its the sense of accomplishment and the atmosphere of being one with your surroundings that makes it enjoyable.

Days Bay
I have chosen to do Days Bay in Eastbourne because it is a very popular beach and has a great view of the city from a different perspective. Eastbourne is not in the main city which creates a sense of adventure travelling there for a nice walk along the beach. The walk way takes you around the entire coastline, showing the beauty of the city afar.
