Week 4, Session 1

layout and look (critique).

I think that the new look of my brochure style works well (better than my previous ones). The triangular shapes give a encouragement of moving forward which relates to walking. The geometrical  coloured shapes refer to the colour palettes i made earlier. I think that my spreads work well and relate to my theme/ style and it is pretty clear what my topic is.

Extra spread
needs of the audience.

For my extra page i was thinking of adding in a photo album and a level of difficulty chart for each location. I trialled this but it didn't suit the rest of my theme. When thinking of what my audience would need in the brochure i came up with

  • fitness plan
  • health info
  • difficulty
  • what to bring
  • check list
  • what to do
  • native plant or animals
  • facts
  • historical elements of sites
I have decided to go with benefits of walking and calendar to get started. This gives the audience to hold on and keep the brochure once they have read it. I think that this will work well but i need to find a style of calendar which will suit and fit in with my theme.

I wanted to stick with the triangle theme and not do a basic square calendar. I made this by cropping the photos on photoshop and then placing them in illustrator and putting in the numbers on illustrator. I think that this works well and fits in with the rest of my brochure.

Having 'the plan' connects my brochure together because i have 'the map, the peak, the bays, the garden'

Cover design

These tree designs aren't as successful as my final cover design because there is too much negative space an they are not detailed enough. the contract is too white and the font doesn't suit being in capitals.

Fianal cover design

I think that this cover works really well because the triangular shape reflects a forward movement and the photography (which i took myself) shows clearly and instantly what the brochure is about. I think that the contrast between the black and white and the black and white and colour work very well together. I like how 'wellington' fits inside the word 'walk' because it makes it interesting to look at and stands out in the 65 bold font.
