Week Three, session 1
Make - I have now started to create visual forms of my work. This will help me to grow on my idea and produce a successful brochure at the end of it.
initial mockups- Eastbourne
These collages i made are for my site in Eastbourne. I focused on the theme of the view while you walk. Instead of focusing on the actual walkway around the bays of Eastbourne, i focused on popular icons such as the wharf and the thin, windy road which links all the bays together. I like how these initial mockups worked but i don't think that they express the feeling and the tensions of walking around the bays in Eastbourne. One major factor that i want to include is the wind, because the walkways are very exposed to the sea. I need to figure out how to create wind without it being cliche and cheesy.
For this design i wanted to work with different perspectives and angles to see which was most effective. The wharf is very popular in Eastbourne and shows the whole of Wellington city from a different angle. I think that the colours work we'll but there is no clear indication what the activity is and where about it is. I need to create a design that is clear to my location and still have hints about the activity.
This design is the same as the one above but in this, i wanted to play around with different colours (trying to find the right course of my colour palette). I think that the orange colour before this design works better because there is more of a contract between the sea and sky, where in this they are both cool colours and don't look as effective. I need to find the right contrast in colour ( and with text further on in this assignment) in my designs.
For this design i wanted to play on what i had already (previous designs) endplay on angles, pattern and colour. i wanted to find a pattern which resembled waves and current which is necessary for Eastbourne because it is so exposed to the wind. i replaced the sky with this abstract wave pattern to create a contrast from the real waves and the abstract version. I think that this works well but there is still no clear indication that this design is about walk ways in Eastbourne. With the wharf i wanted to play on angles to create depth. By having the two wharfs opposite each other it creates a sense of depth and seems like you are looking out, far across the harbour (which is what you do in Eastbourne; look over towards Wellington City).
